PEARL RIVER COUNTY, MS : Two dead after separate incidents in Nicholson community on Saturday, 29th October 2016

Two men are dead after separate incidents in the small Nicholson community of Pearl River County on Saturday night.

Coroner Derek Turnage said one man was shot to death Saturday night and another was stabbed. The man who was stabbed died Sunday. It is unclear at this time if the two incidents are related.

Turnage said Mark Johnson, 39, of Slidell, LA, died after being shot multiple times Saturday night. It is unclear if anyone has been charged with the death or if any suspects are in custody.

Turnage said the fatal stabbing happened during a domestic dispute. The coroner said a man was stabbed by a female acquaintance during the dispute, but he could not say how many times.

The man was rushed to Highland Community Hospital and then transferred to Forrest General Hospital, where he later died.

Turnage said the stabbing death remains under investigation, and it is unclear if the female involved in the incident has been charged with a crime.

The identity of the stabbing victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Turnage said an autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
