A 31-year-old New Jersey woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Rockland County on Monday morning, authorities said.

Myrian Romero of Union City was driving a Hyundai Elantra north on the Palisades Interstate Parkway when the vehicle veered off the road and onto the grassy median

before striking a tree, New York State Police said in a news release.

The crash took place around 5:55 a.m. near exit 13 in Haverstraw, New York State Police said.

Romero, the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency responders cut the vehicle open to remove her.

There was a construction helmet and fluorescent gear inside the car, LoHud.com reported. She was an ironworker for Metallic Leathers and Reinforcing Ironworkers Local

46, according to her Facebook page.
