Elk Point, SD : Woman killed and four others injured in a two-vehicle crash at Interstate 29 in Union County On Monday May 9th, 2016

Authorities have released the names of a woman killed and four others injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 in Union County.

The Highway Patrol says a sport utility vehicle went out of control in heavy rain, crossed the median into the oncoming lanes and collided head-on with a van. The crash happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday near Elk Point.

The SUV passenger, 32-year-old Casondra Caudill, of Tarkio, Missouri, later died from her injuries. A passenger in the van, 45-year-old Korbyn Bertsch, of Sisseton, suffered what the patrol says are life-threatening injuries. Another van passenger,

35-year-old Brent Starr, of Sisseton, suffered serious injuries.

The van driver, 69-year-old Duane Wanna, of Sisseton, and the SUV driver, 24-year-old Shelby Steele, of Sioux Falls suffered minor injuries.
