Statesville, NC : Two hospitalized after Iredell crash on Thursday, September 14, 2017

A crash near Mooresville Ford and the Speedway Convenience Store that caused delays on N.C. 150 on Thursday also triggered a second collision shortly after the first crash.

Maj. Ron Chilton with the Mooresville Police Department said the first crash, which occurred around 3:30 p.m., involved a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Phillip Reid Graham, of Landis, which crashed into the back of a 1998 Ford, driven by Mooresville resident Virginia Gwinn Shearer.

"The crash occurred in the left westbound lane of N.C. 150," said Chilton. "Officers believe a vehicle or vehicles attempting to make left turns into nearby businesses blocked traffic, causing traffic in the travel lane to stop, which was the cause of Shearer’s vehicle being stopped."

Chilton said that Graham was transported to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for serious injuries, while the motorcycle passenger, Tisha Hunsucker Graham, was transported to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Shortly after the first accident, Chilton said there was a second collision in the left eastbound lane.

"One vehicle crashed into the back of another vehicle, due to the driver being distracted and looking at the first crash scene," he said.

There were no injuries reported in the second crash.
