Walnut Creek,CA : Driver killed, passenger injured in Walnut Creek freeway on-ramp crash on January, Wednesday 3rd 2018

A sedan crashed into a guardrail on an on-ramp to Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek Wednesday morning, leaving the driver dead and sending the passenger to the hospital with major injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The car, a grey Toyota sedan, was traveling on the North Main Street on-ramp to northbound I-680 when it veered to the right for unknown reasons, according to the CHP. The car slammed into the guardrail bordering the freeway, killing the driver.

The crash was reported at 10:09 a.m. No other vehicles were involved.

The driver was identified only as a 29-year-old male from Winnetka in Los Angeles County, the CHP reported. The passenger, a male from Pittsburg, was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
