Racine County, WI : Racine man charged with hit-and-run crash involving pregnant woman on Monday September 28, 2015

A Racine man is facing charges after a hit-and-run crash Saturday that may have injured a pregnant woman.
The Racine Journal-Times reports Bryan D. Collins, 45, was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with a felony count of a hit-and-run causing injury, two misdemeanor counts of bail jumping and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct involving domestic abuse. Collins was in custody as of Monday night. His next scheduled court appearance is set for Oct. 8.According to a criminal complaint, Collins was driving his girlfriend's vehicle, a Nissan sedan, on on Saturday night on Charles St. when he drove past a stop sign and crashed into a vehicle headed east on High St. The eastbound vehicle was being driven by a woman in the eighth week of pregnancy. A witness told officials Collins allegedly backed up and drove around the vehicle, leaving the scene at "at least 60 mph."
The woman's condition was not released. Police on scene reported finding the front bumper, a Nissan grill emblem and a damaged license plate, which authorities traced to a 50-year-old Racine woman.

That woman had called police about 10 minutes before the crash and reported that Collins had assaulted her. He was driving her car when she got out of it at a gas station on Douglas Ave., and she then called her sister to pick her up and take her home.About an hour later, officers were called to the 1800 block of 12th St. for a report of people arguing in a yard. Dispatchers noted that the people involved in the dispute had been involved in the earlier incidents. At the scene, officers found the Nissan sought in the crash. Collins' ID and his cellphone were found in the car.
Collins was found in an intoxicated state, police say. He denied having driven the vehicle in "at least five days" but said he rode in it every day.
