WAYNE COUNTY, OH : Driver involved in crash with Amish buggy on Wednesday, August 2, 2017
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who crashed into an Amish buggy, then took off.
The crash happened Wednesday evening at just before 8 p.m. on State Route 539, north of Huff Road in Congress Township, Wayne County.
The highway patrol says a horse-drawn buggy carrying five people was southbound on State Route 539. A car, which was also southbound, struck the rear of the buggy. The buggy was forced off the road and struck a ditch.
The car took off following the collision.
Five people including a child were injured and taken to the hospital. The child’s injuries are said to be serious. The other injuries were non-life-threatening, according to the highway patrol.
Parts from the car were recovered at the scene. Through investigation of those parts, authorities determined they are looking for a champagne-colored 2001 Honda Accord, with heavy damage to the front and right side.
