The man killed in a head-on crash Wednesday morning on Highway 99 south of Chico has been identified.
The Butte County Coroner’s Office said Thursday he is Donald Herrmann, 39, of Chico.
Herrmann was killed in a two-vehicle crash that happened about 7 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 99 north of Badger Creek Road and near Highway 162, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers said Herrmann was a passenger in a Toyota Matrix that was traveling north on the highway and, for reasons that weren’t immediately clear, veered into the southbound lane, colliding head on with a southbound Toyota Camry, according to the CHP.
Herrmann died at the scene.
The driver of the Matrix, Holly Logan, 36, of Chico, suffered minor injuries in the wreck.
The driver of the Camry, Kimberlee Bainbridge, 52, of Los Molinos, suffered moderate injuries.
The CHP said it does not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
No arrests were made.
