Augusta, KS : Wichita man killed in rollover accident in Butler County on Monday afternoon, June 20, 2016
One man was killed in a roll-over accident Monday afternoon.
Sheriff Kelly Herzet said they received the report of an injury accident at the area of SE Cole Creek Road and SE 240th at 1:25 p.m.
“Upon arrival it was determined it was a single-vehicle rollover accident,” Herzet said. “The driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Hermit said the driver was Kevin L. Hockman, 44, of Wichita. He had not been wearing his seatbelt.
“Through the investigation it was determined he had been fishing at the Butler State Fishing Lake,” Herzet said.
Hockman had borrowed a vehicle from another man fishing at the lake to go see his family in Wichita. He was returning to the lake and became lost, Herzet said.
“He was possibly intoxicated,” he said. “Witnesses said he was driving erratically.”
The vehicle involved in was a 1992 GMC 2500 pickup restituted to a person by the name of Brewer.
