A 29-year-old Bemidji man was killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup Thursday at an intersection in south Grand Forks..
According to a police accident report, the crash victim was traveling east on a 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he struck a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup making a left turn at the intersection of 32nd Avenue South and South 34th Street.
The pickup's driver, a 28-year-old Grand Forks resident, was traveling west about 6:15 p.m. on 32nd Avenue and began turning south onto 34th Street. Police said it appears the operator of the eastbound motorcycle disregarded a traffic signal and entered the intersection, struck the side of the pickup and was thrown from the bike. He did not appear to be wearing a helmet.
The victim was taken to Altru Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
The driver of the Silverado and a passenger were not injured.
The identities of the drivers were not released, pending notification of family. Police ask witnesses to contact them at (701) 787-8000.
