SIERRA VISTA, AZ : One killed, another injured in Saturday evening crash on Saturday, 17th September 2016

One woman was killed and a man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of the Highway 90 Bypass and Charleston Road Saturday evening.

The crash happened at 7:39 p.m. said Sierra Vista police Cmdr. Lawrence Boutte, when “a 2003 Buick collided with a 1999 Isuzu four-door station wagon. The driver of the Buick was transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center. The passenger of the Buick was deceased at the scene."

Neither of the two occupants of the Isuzu required medical transportation from the scene, while Boutte said it was expected that the male driver of the Buick was going to be transported to a Tucson hospital for further treatment.

The crash was originally described as a head-on collision, but that conclusion was less clear after investigators received conflicting eyewitness reports at the scene, Boutte said Saturday night.

The name of the deceased female passenger of the Buick was not released on Saturday as the next of kin had yet to be notified. Boutte said that neither of the Buick occupants were local residents.

One southbound lane of travel remained opened following the crash, while all other lanes were closed off as police continued their investigation of the incident.
