WESTMORELAND, NY : CNY man airlifted to Upstate Hospital after Oneida County crash at the intersection of Skinner Road and State Route 26 on Thursday, 10th January 2019

A 35-year-old Oneida County man was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital after a crash in the Westmoreland, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

James Gonzalez, 35, of Vernon, is listed in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital, deputies said.

Deputies responded to an accident at 3:50 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Skinner Road and State Route 26.

An investigation into the crash found that Claude Crowell, 46, of Rome, was driving a 2008 Chrysler van when he tried to turn left from State Route 26 to Skinner Road, deputies said. Crowell crossed in front of a 2016 Chevrolet van driven north by Ashlee Rubyor on State Route 26, deputies said. Gonzalez was a passenger in Rubyor’s car.

The crash closed State Route 26 in both directions until approximately 7:25 p.m., deputies said.
