Toledo, OH : 6-year-old in critical condition after Anthony Wayne Bridge crash on Sunday, August 6, 2017
A 6-year-old remained in critical condition Sunday evening after she was ejected from a sport utility vehicle and landed under the vehicle during a crash on Anthony Wayne Bridge.
The crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. and sent five passengers to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, including Nakeida Lawson, 6, of central city.
The other passengers, who were treated and released, were Tiffany Bermejo, 24, of central city; Taylee McVey, 29, of South Toledo; Antonio Lawson, 4, of central city, and 6-month-old Amir Bermejo, of central city, according to police and a hospital spokesman.
All were riding with Tony Alsept, 26, of South Toledo, who police said was driving a green Dodge Durango across the bridge from the east.
Mr. Alsept had to merge to the left lane because of construction. He realized another vehicle was in the left lane, swerved back to the right and lost control, eventually jumping the curb onto the guardrail and sidewalk, and coming to an abrupt stop.
