Opelika, AL : Officials identify victim of single-vehicle accident on Wednesday, March 22nd 2017
Officials have identified an Opelika man as the victim in a single-vehicle accident that happened on Veterans Parkway on Wednesday afternoon.
Timothy Scott-Golden, 46, was killed when his Ford Explorer left the roadway on Veterans Parkway near the Gabby Street intersection and hit several trees, according to a Lee County Coroner’s Office press release.
Golden was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:15 p.m. from multiple blunt force impact injuries. It is believed Golden was traveling south on Veterans Parkway when he ran off the roadway and possibly overcorrected, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and then traveled across the north bound lanes of Veterans Parkway and left the roadway striking several trees, according to the release. It did not appear that Golden was wearing a seatbelt. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The Opelika Police Department received a call about a traffic accident with injuries on Veterans Parkway near the intersection of Gabby Street around 2:05 p.m. Opelika police, along with the Opelika Fire Department’s Fire and Rescue Units responded to the crash, according to an Opelika Police Department press release.
The accident remains under investigation by the Lee County Coroner’s Office and the Opelika Police.
