Fort Wayne, IN : 1 injured in Pontiac Street crash on Thursday, 15th March 2018
A man was critically injured Thursday afternoon after crashing his car into a utility pole on the south side of Pontiac Street, Fort Wayne police said.
The driver had driven through the Pontiac Street turnaround, causing damage to some traffic signs, before going west on Pontiac Street, police said in a statement.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the man pinned inside the car, the statement said. He was taken to a local hospital, where he is in critical condition.
Investigators don't know what caused the man to crash his car, police said.
Pontiac Street is closed to all traffic from the Pontiac Street turnaround west on Pontiac Street to Radcliffe Drive to allow American Electric Power to replace the damaged pole and reconnect its aerial facilities.
The crash is under investigation.
