Waco, TX : Gholson man dies in wreck near Axtell Tuesday evening, January 3, 2017

A Gholson man died after a pickup he was driving hit a tree Tuesday evening, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. D.L. Wilson said in a press release.
Joe Lester Middleton, 66, was driving on Sutherland Road just south of State Highway 31 near Axtell at about 7:15 p.m. when his truck left the road to the right and hit a tree, Wilson said.
Justice of the Peace W.H. “Pete” Peterson pronounced Middleton dead at the scene, and DPS is investigating the crash, Wilson said.
Middleton was driving south in a 2008 Chevrolet pickup at the time of the wreck, he said.
