Everett, WA : motorcyclist tries to carjack family after I-5 crash Monday afternoon on July 14, 2014
Washington state troopers are looking for a man accused of crashing a stolen motorcycle into a car on Interstate 5 in south Everett, then trying unsuccessfully to carjack a family. Troopers say they think the bleeding man wearing a red jersey then took a Mazda Miata from a nearby mobile home park.
Trooper Mike Francis says one woman stopped her car, with two children inside, to help the injured man after the Monday afternoon crash. Francis says the man tried to jump into the woman's car but she "wrestled him away" and he ran from the freeway.
Witnesses say the motorcycle was speeding southbound before the crash and the man "reeked of alcohol." Francis says the motorcycle is believed to be stolen.
Troopers say the man's red jersey had the number "35" on it — and Francis adds that the man apparently left his ID at the scene.
