Honolulu, HI : Pickup crash on H-1 Freeway kills driver; truck goes over guardrail, rolls down embankment on Thursday morning October 2nd 2014
The driver of a pickup died Wednesday when her truck went over a guardrail on the H-1 Freeway near Waimalu and rolled down a 40-foot embankment.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the name of the 64-year-old Waipahu woman was not immediately released.
Honolulu police say the truck at 8:20 a.m. was heading toward Waimalu when it veered right and struck another vehicle's bumper.
The truck spun 180 degrees, climbed over the guardrail and rolled several times before landing on its roof next to the Waimalu Drainage Canal behind Newtown Business Park.
The woman was thrown from the truck and died at the scene.
The vehicle struck by the pickup was pushed into the guardrail. The second vehicle sideswiped a third, which collided with a fourth.
No other drivers were injured.
