Jefferson City, MO : St. Peters man fatally injured in crash after veering into oncoming traffic on Monday, November 21st, 2016
A man from St. Peters was fatally injured Monday in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 79.
The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the victim as Terry M. Lincoln, 44.
Lincoln was driving north on Highway 79 in a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. North of TR Hughes Boulevard, he crashed at 1:42 p.m. Monday.
Police say Lincoln had driven onto the right shoulder to pass vehicles. When his pickup returned to the road, he lost control of the pickup and it crossed the center yellow line into the southbound lane.
An oncoming motorist drove off the road to avoid a collision with Lincoln, but the front of Lincoln's pickup struck the front left of the oncoming vehicle.
Lincoln's pickup spun counter-clockwise before stopping on the road. Lincoln had not been wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
The driver whose car he struck was a man, 62, from O'Fallon who suffered minor injuries.
