A Colorado Springs man was seriously injured after he had to lay his motorcycle onto the road to avoid hitting a car that changed lanes in front of him in Sarasota County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The reports says Walter Ziwik, 61, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 41 in the left lane approaching Seaboard Avenue at 2:22 p.m. Friday when a car switched from the right lane in front of Ziwik's 1993 Kawasaki Vulcan, causing Ziwik to abruptly apply his brakes and turn the motorcycle onto its left side to avoid hitting the other vehicle.
The car left the scene of the accident, and was last seen traveling eastbound on U.S. 41. Ziwik, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Venice Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
He described the other vehicle as a white passenger car.
