Laredo,TX : Victim identified, 69-year-old Laredo man cited in crash that critically injured motorcycle rider on July, Friday 14th 2017
A man has been cited for causing a crash that left a motorcycle rider in critical condition, according to Laredo police.
Alfredo Saldaña, 69, was cited Friday for failure to yield the right-of-way from a private property.
Meanwhile, authorities have identified the rider as Juan Marcos Medellin, 21. He remained in a San Antonio hospital.
Relatives and loved ones are asking for prayers via social media.
Motorcycle rider critically injured after collision on San Bernardo Avenue
"You got this amor! Juan Marcos, you are a fighter! We are storming up the heavens with prayers, and asking God to send of all of His angels to guide the hands of the staff, nurses, and doctors," his mother, Maria Leonor Garcia Medellin, posted on Facebook.
The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. Friday in the 4800 block of San Bernardo Avenue. A Chevy Malibu driven by Saldaña struck Medellin while he was riding his motorcycle.
Police said Medellin sustained severe head trauma.
An investigation conducted by the Laredo Police Department's crash team is ongoing.
