La Grange, KY : La Grange police officer injured in two-vehicle crash on Sunday, 8th December, 2019

A La Grange police officer was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 53 tonight, according to La Grange Police.La Grange Police Officer Cj Weires, 25, sustained minor facial injuries in the accident that occurred at approximately 7:53 p.m., according to La Grange Police Chief Greg Collett.

Weires was transported to University of Louisville Hospital to be evaluated.

According to police’s initial investigation, the two vehicles struck when a pickup truck was turning onto the Interstate 71 northbound ramp in La Grange while traveling southbound on Highway 53. Officer Weires was traveling northbound on Highway 53 in his police cruiser.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, but a 19-year-old female passenger sustained injuries to the lower extremities, according to Collett. She was transported to Baptist Health La Grange.

Oldham County Police’s accident reconstruction unit is investigating the collision alongside the La Grange Police Department.
