Port Orange, FL : Woman struck, killed by multiple cars on I-95 in Volusia County on Wednesday, December 16, 2015

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating after a woman was hit by several vehicles on Interstate 95 in Port Orange.

Troopers said it happened just before 7 p.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes near mile marker 258, shutting down the lanes for a couple hours.

Troopers said they don’t know why the woman was on the interstate and that she was not a construction worker.

The woman was hit by at least four vehicles, and was initially struck by a semi or box truck, witnesses told troopers.

None of the vehicles that hit the woman stopped, witnesses said.

Troopers are still working to identify the victim.
