OMAHA, NE : Person killed in I-480 crash identified on May, Friday, 12th 2017

Omaha Police have released the name of a person who was killed when he was hit by a car on Highway 75 near Ames Avenue Friday night.

The victim's name is 23-year-old Chaneel Walton.

It happened around 9 o'clock. Officers were called to a personal injury crash at I-480 northbound to the Highway 75 on-ramp.

According to Omaha Police, while continuing onto the on-ramp, the 2004 Chevy Malibu Walton was driving lost control, left the roadway and struck the concrete bases and support structure for an overhead sign.

Walton died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police determined Walton was not wearing a seatbelt and was the only person in the car.

The Highway 75 on-ramp was closed until 12:30. The Nebraska Department of Roads was on location to assist with the ramp closure.

The crash remains under investigation.
