Richmond, R.I : 16-year-old girl killed, father hurt in head-on and rolled over on Route 138 in Rhode Island Thursday, July 7, 2016
Police have identified a 16-year-old girl killed when the car she was riding in with her father was hit head-on and rolled over on Route 138 in Rhode Island.
The Providence Journal reports police identified the girl Friday as Grace Hanlon of Norwich. Her father, who was injured, was identified as Paul Hanlon, 50, also of Norwich.
Police said Grace Hanlon was pronounced dead at South County Hospital, where she was taken by ambulance. Her father was taken by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital.
Police say their vehicle was going west just before 12:10 p.m. Thursday in Richmond when an eastbound Chevrolet Impala braked too late and hit a sport utility vehicle, then crossed the center line and hit the oncoming Jeep carrying Hanlon.
Police say the Jeep rolled over and hit a utility pole.
Police said driver of the Impala, Jared Bixby, 21, of Wilmington, North Carolina, was cited for leaving the lane of travel and following too closely.
