Ventura, CA : Henry Olivo, 20, arrested after stolen vehicle crashes in Ventura on Tuesday, March 10, 2015

A man was arrested after crashing a stolen vehicle Tuesday in Ventura, officials said.

Ventura police responded around 4 p.m. to the intersection of Laurel Street and Thompson Boulevard regarding a hit-and-run traffic collision, police said. Henry Olivo, 20, of Ventura, was one of the drivers involved in the crash and ran away from the scene, authorities said. Citizens chased him while waiting for police to arrive and detained him near Laurel and Santa Clara streets, officials said.

Police responded to Olivo’s location and took him into custody, officials said. it was learned that the vehicle Olivo was driving was reported stolen out of Ventura, authorities said. Olivo also refused to give police his correct name, police said.

Olivo was arrested in connection with possession of a stolen vehicle, misdemeanor hit-and-run and giving a false name, officials said. The other driver involved in the crash was not injured, police said.
