Reno, NV : Driver dies after single-vehicle rollover crashes Interstate 80 on Thursday August 10th 2015
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash near Derby Dam that has claimed the life of the driver.
NHP said Thursday the crash happened at about 8:17 a.m. when the vehicle was proceeding eastbound on Interstate 80.
NHP said crash investigation details indicated a black 1997 Suzuki Sidekick driven by 21-year-old Jessie Colton McCool of Yerington was traveling eastbound on I-80 in the left travel lane. For unknown reasons, McCool reportedly allowed the vehicle to drift left into the inside dirt median. NHP said McCool then overcorrected, steering the vehicle to the right causing it to enter a clockwise skid and re-enter the roadway facing south. The vehicle then entered the right dirt shoulder and overturned, NHP said. The vehicle came to rest on its top, facing south. McCool was wearing his seatbelt, according to NHP.
Troopers said the driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Renown in Reno by Care Flights. The driver reportedly later succumbed to injuries.
