Trotwood, OH : 3-year-old trapped in fatal crash wreckage on Route 49 at Little Richmond Road in Trotwood on Thursday, May 7, 2015

A 3-year-old child was trapped in the wreckage of a fatal crash Thursday evening in Trotwood.

Rescuers were called to Route 49 and Little Richmond Road just before 7:00 p.m.

Investigators say a tree trimming truck was disabled on the side of the road. Another truck was stopped there assisting. Police say the car was most likely speeding when it hit the disabled truck.

The 3-year-old child was trapped inside the car for a short time. The child was flown to Dayton Children’s Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car was pronounced dead.

The driver of the tree trimming truck was flown to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. One other victim suffered minor injuries.

The road will remain closed until the scene is clear which could be a couple more hours.
