HARVEY COUNTY, KS : I-135 reopened near Newton after fatal crash on Saturday, 7th September 2024

The victim of a fatal crash in Newton on Saturday night has been identified, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, the patrol says the victim was walking north in the southbound lanes of I-135 at milepost 31.2, just south of east 1st Street, when a southbound vehicle struck her.

The KHP says the driver and both passengers of the vehicle were unharmed in the crash.

The pedestrian was identified as 22-year-old Aubrie Lakey. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
