Lincoln County, NM : Colorado man dead in a fatal single vehicle rollover accident near Carrizozo on Tuesday morning, May 17, 2016
New Mexico State Police continue their investigation of a fatal single vehicle rollover accident southwest of Carrizozo Tuesday morning, a NMSP spokeswoman said.
In a press release NMSP Sgt. Elizabeth Armijo wrote Alejandro Romero Barron, 20, of Northglenn, Colorado, sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
Armijo stated Barron was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on U.S. Highway 54 at mile marker 106 that’s southwest of Carrizozo.
She wrote in the release that NMSP officers responded to the accident around 5 a.m.
In the release Armijo wrote the preliminary investigation revealed that Barron was driving a Honda passenger car northbound on Highway 54 when the vehicle exited the roadway for unknown reason and rolled onto the west shoulder of the road.
Officers learned through investigation that Barron was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, she stated.
Armijo wrote a passenger in the vehicle was transported to a hospital for medical treatment after sustaining serious injuries.
She stated the passenger was wearing a seatbelt.
