Sarasota, FL : Motorcyclist injured in collision with truck near downtown Sarasota on Tuesday night, September 27, 2016
At least one person was injured when a sports bike and a Chevrolet Suburban truck collided Tuesday night at the intersection of Fruitville Road and Goodrich Avenue near downtown Sarasota.
According to the Sarasota Police Department:
Officers responded to the crash around 10 p.m. Tuesday. The bike rider was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with critical injuries. The cyclist's helmet was found about 60 feet away in a nearby parking lot.
There was no information available on the driver of the truck.
A tow truck arrived at around midnight to begin clearing the vehicles from the roadway.
The westbound lanes of Fruitville Road were closed between Osprey Avenue and Orange Avenue, while Goodrich Avenue was closed from 4th Street to 2nd Street for at least two hours after the incident.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
