The name of a 58-year-old Estero woman who died in a crash along Corkscrew Road on Monday has been released.
Rhoda Merrill Feinstein was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened about 4:30 p.m. along Corkscrew at Wildcat Run Road in Estero, Lee County sheriff's deputies reported Tuesday.
Feinstein was a passenger in a 2008 Kia that her daughter April L. Feinstein, 33, of Estero was driving west on Corkscrew. April Feinstein failed to negotiate a left curve, deputies said. Carrie Lynn Benson-Martus, 41, of Estero was driving a 2013 Honda east on Corkscrew at the same time and Feinstein's car left the road and hit the Honda head-on.
Rescue workers took April Feinstein, who suffered life-threatening injuries, to Lee Memorial Hospital. Benson-Martus and a passenger, her 11-year-old daughter Alexis Gray Martus, were transported to Lee Memorial with non-life-threatening injuries.
Speed was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation,deputies said.
