PINE HILLS, FL : Bicyclist dies after hit-and-run crash in Pine Hills on Sunday, 7th January 2024

A 71-year-old Orlando man riding a bicycle through Pine Hills died after being struck in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 1:10 a.m. as the bicyclist traveled south on Powers Drive, south of Indian Hill Road, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the driver of an unknown vehicle also traveling south on Powers Drive did not stop or slow down for the Orlando man ahead of them. The front right of the vehicle struck the man as a result, the report states.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.
