Minot, N.D : One person killed, several injured in crashes in north-central North Dakota on Monday morning, Oct 26, 2015
Authorities say one person was killed and several others were injured in a series of multi-vehicle crashes in north-central North Dakota.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says three separate crashes involving more than 10 vehicles occurred Monday morning amid foggy conditions and in close proximity to one another.
Lyne Enget of Stanley was killed when her vehicle had stopped on U.S. Highway 83 near Minot due to heavy fog and was struck from behind by a semi-trailer pulling an empty anhydrous ammonia tank. The semi-trailer continued through the crash scene, hitting two other vehicles and causing one of them to hit a fifth vehicle, before it ignited and burned to the frame.
The Highway Patrol says six people were treated at a hospital for injuries.
Two additional crashes happened north of the fatal accident.
