Melcher-Dallas, IA : No one injured after a car hit a refrigerator north of Melcher-Dallas on Monday, October 13, 2014

Authorities are investigating a car vs. refrigerator crash near Melcher-Dallas Monday The crash as reported on Highway S45 near Pratt Street about 11:30 a.m., which is just north of town. Melcher-Dallas Fire Department officials told KNIA/KRLS that pickup hauling several refrigerators lost one of them and it landed on the roadway. A passenger in the car told KCCI the truck was about 15 feet from the car when an unsecured refrigerator fell from the truck and landed on the road. The passenger said the driver had no choice but to hit the refrigerator because the truck was in the lane next to the car and a 30-foot drop was on the other side. Three people in the car were not seriously hurt, the radio station reported. The airbags did deploy, which caused some bruising to the passengers. The crash remains under investigation.
