Orlando, FL : Two people killed after wrong way driver hits taxi on I-4 west early Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016

All lanes of westbound Interstate 4 at Kirkman Road are back open after troopers say a wrong way driver crashed into a taxi, killing both drivers early Tuesday morning.

The crash happened at about 3:20 a.m. near Sand Lake Road.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Fernando Clemente III, 44, of Orlando was driving a green Honda van the wrong way in the westbound lanes and crashed head-on into a taxi driven by 39-year-old Harold Fabre, 39, of Orlando, that was traveling westbound. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing seat belts, according to an FHP report.

"This taxi cab driver never had a chance to get out of the way. There was a another vehicle in front of him that moved out of the way of this wrong way driver and this taxi cab driver never had a chance to move out of the way," said Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said they are working to determine where Clemente began driving the wrong way.
The crash remains under investigation.
