BROOKFIELD, CT : Bethel man charged with DUI after Route 7 crash on Wednesday, January 18th 2017
A Bethel man who police say drove the wrong way on Route 7 expressway was arrested Wednesday.
According to a statement released by police, Robert Johnson, of Hawleyville Road, crossed over the median on Route 7 near exit 11 and began driving the wrong way on the limited access highway. Johnson eventually crashed several feet of metal guardrail and a light pole, police said, adding that he was not injured in the accident.
Police said Johnson failed field sobriety tests and was charged with operating under the influence, driving on the wrong way of a highway and operation of a car with a suspended license.
Johnson was released on a $5,000 bond.
