Belleville, IL : Belleville bridge damaged in truck, forklift accident on Sunday, 4th March 2018

A Belleville bridge was damaged Sunday when a forklift in the bed of a truck hit the underside of the overpass.

At about 9 a.m., the truck was driving beneath the bridge when the forklift it was hauling struck the bridge and fell onto the roadway at 8105 W. Illinois Route 15.

Belleville Fire Chief Tom Pour said the forks on the lift were raised in the air, causing them to hit the underside of the overpass. The forklift ended up about 75 yards away from the bridge due to the accident.
