Erie, PA : A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on May, Thursday, 18th 2017

A motorcyclist was seriously injured when his bike collided with a car Thursday evening at 10th and State streets in Erie.

Witnesses told police the motorcyclist was heading westbound on 10th Street and the vehicle was southbound on State Street when they collided in the middle of the intersection.

The crash happened just after 7 p.m.

Witnesses said the man, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike. The driver of the car — a woman — was uninjured, authorities said.

The man was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment of serious injuries. An Erie police traffic investigator was summoned to the scene.

Police closed 10th Street from State to Peach streets.
