LORAIN, OH : Elyria man killed in single-car crash in Lorain on Saturday, 23rd January 2021

A 33-year-old Elyria man died Saturday afternoon after crashing his car, and authorities believe high speeds and reckless driving are to blame.

The crash happened about 1:10 p.m. Saturday on Ohio 611, under the 21st Street Underpass, a news release from Lorain police says.

A 2007 Chevrolet Corvette was headed eastbound on Ohio 611, and once through the intersection with Elyria Avenue, the car’s driver “failed to negotiate a curve in the road due to excessive speed,” causing the car to lose control, the news release states.

The car went off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and ultimately hit the underpass wall, police said. The driver was ejected from the vehicle in the crash.
