Tacoma, WA : Olympia woman dies in a three-vehicle crash on state Route 512 in Pierce County on Tuesday, March 29, 2016

A 22-year-old Olympia woman died Tuesday in a three-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 5, south of state Route 512 in Pierce County.

Hannah Veres was a passenger in a 2013 Chevrolet Volt, driven by a 23-year-old Lacey man, according to Washington State Police. The Lacey man was not injured. Veres was transported to Tacoma General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A 1-year-old child who also was a passenger in the Volt was injured and transported to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.

According to a Washington State Patrol news release:

The Volt was traveling north about 4:35 p.m. and slowed for traffic when it was struck from behind by a 1994 Chevrolet K2 pickup driven by 45-year-old Puyallup man. The impact pushed the Volt into a white Mazda driven by a 34-year-old Michigan man.

The Michigan man was uninjured, and his vehicle was able to be driven from the scene. The Puyallup man was not injured either, but the truck he was driving was totaled and impounded.

Everyone involved was wearing seat belts.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. No other details were available Wednesday.
