Montgomery County, MO : St. Charles woman killed in Montgomery County crash on Saturday, June 28, 2014

A St. Charles woman was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Saturday in Montgomery County.

Tammy M. Oates, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened at about 2:50 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 70 in the western part of the county. The patrol said the traffic had slowed due to heavy rain. A pickup truck hit a sport utility vehicle Oates was a passenger in, and then the SUV struck a car.

The driver of the SUV, Lawrence Willen, 55, of St. Charles, suffered moderate injuries. Another passenger, Robin R. Oates, 56, of St. Charles, suffered serious injuries, and Diana L. Willen, 57, of St. Charles, suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the car, Merl D. York, 55, of Mexico, Mo., suffered minor injuries. Everyone in the SUV and car wore a seat belt, the patrol said. The driver of the truck, Antonio Calmo, 25, of St. Louis, was not injured.
