Conway ,SC : 37- Years old James Jarrett killed and two ohers injured after four-vehicle car crash on Monday night,May 18th 2015

Four-vehicle car crash Monday night on U.S. 701, near Conway, resulted in the death of a moped driver and two others were injured, according to Lance Cpl. Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

This recent death is the second traffic fatality to occur Monday, and the third within the past two days, according to authorities.

The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. near 6670 U.S. 701 N., and the driver of a Tao-brand moped, James Jarrett, 37, of Conway, was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple traumas, Darris Fowler, deputy coroner with Horry County, said. Jarrett was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Fowler said.

The victim was traveling southbound on U.S. 701 when the victim crossed over into the northbound lane and was struck head-on by the 64-year-old driver of a 2007 Chevy sports utility vehicle.

The SUV overturned and crossed over into the southbound lane and was then struck by a 2001 Dodge.

A 1993, four-door Lexus then struck the SUV and the 2001 Dodge, Jones said.

The 64-year-old driver of the SUV was seriously injured and taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the 2001 Dodge was injured and taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, but the nature of the driver’s injuries was unknown, Jones said.

The driver of the 1993 Lexus was uninjured.
