ALAMOSA, CO : A two-car crash on Wednesday, August 9, 2017
Monte Vista resident Charlotte Orth, 73, died as a result of injuries suffered in a two-car crash on the 8 South and the 100 South (Rio Grande/Alamosa County Line) on Wednesday evening.
Orth was driving a blue 1998 Lincoln Town Car west on the 8 South at 5:43 p.m. on August 9, according to Colorado State Patrol Sergeant Jared Rapp who investigated the crash. Orth’s vehicle ran the stop sign at the intersection of the 8 South and County Line and hit a maroon 2000 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Judy Garcia, 53, of Del Norte. Garcia was heading north on the County Line.
The vehicles went off the northwest side of the road and collided with a power pole, which knocked out power for a time to the area.
There were no passengers in either vehicle. Both drivers were transported to SLV Health in Alamosa where Orth succumbed to her injuries. Garcia suffered moderate injuries in the crash.
