Carthage, MO : Pierce City woman injured in wreck on Highway 39 at Highway 96, south of Miller on Saturday, April 9, 2016

A Pierce City woman was injured Saturday in a wreck at 1:10 p.m. on Highway 39 at Highway 96, one mile south of Miller.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Maura Spark, 76, of Pierce City, was driving a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis southbound on Highway 39 when her vehicle failed to yield and was struck in the side by an eastbound 2003 Dodge Neon, being driven by Hanna Rhood, 20, of Greenfield.

A passenger in Spark's vehicle, Edana Fenske, 86, of Pierce City, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital in Carthage. Spark and Rhood were not injured.

All involved were wearing safety devices. The Dodge was totaled, and the Mercury suffered moderate damage.
