Rutland,VT : NY woman hurt in Wells crash on January, Saturday 27th 2018
A New York woman was injured when the sport utility vehicle in which she was a passenger crashed on Saturday, police said.
Kayla Keyes, 23, was treated at a Glens Falls, New York, hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to a press release from the Vermont State Police.
Police said Samantha McKinstry, 23, of Pawlet, was driving a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer west on East Wells Road, near the intersection with Wells Brook Road, around 8:40 p.m. Saturday but failed to adequately slow the SUV and lost control, crossing into the other lane of travel.
The Mountaineer went off the roadway, which police said was slick because of rain and cold temperatures, before rolling onto its side.
Neither McKinstry nor another passenger, Jack Bennett, 37, of Queensbury, New York, reported any injuries.
McKinstry was cited for failing to keep her vehicle to the right of the roadway.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Wells Volunteer Fire Department and Granville Rescue Squad. Warner’s Towing removed the vehicle.
