Mason County, KY : One person killed and two others injured in an accident on Kentucky 9 AA Highway on Monday, April 18, 2016

One person was killed and two others injured in an accident on Kentucky 9 AA Highway, south of its intersection with Kentucky 10 in Mason County, Monday.

According to Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs, David Warner, 52, of Cold Springs, driving a 1999 GMC pickup truck, was headed southbound on the highway at about 3 p.m., when he crossed the centerline, sideswiping a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Harold Miley, 76, of Brooksville, and headed northbound. Warner's vehicle then struck a 2011 Buick, also head northbound and operated by Jessica Baessler, 33, of Ohio.

The GMC pickup truck then crossed the southbound lane, finally coming to rest outside of the shoulder, Boggs said.

A passenger in the Warner vehicle, Tyrone Cox, 47, of Aberdeen, Ohio, was freed from the wreckage by passersby and transported to Meadowview Regional Medical Center by Maysville/Mason County EMS for treatment. He was later airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Hospital.

Warner was pronounced dead at the scene by Mason County Assistant Coroner Robert Palmer.

Baessler was transported to MRMC where she was treated for her injuries and later released.

The accident remains under investigation by Deputy Terry Fryman.

The MCSO was assisted at the scene by Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, Kentucky State Police, Maysville Police Department and the Gernamntown, Fernleaf and Lewisburg volunteer fire departments.
