Three people were hospitalized Saturday following a high-speed rollover crash on Highway 83 near the Flying Horse community in northern Colorado Springs.
The crash, which involved two vehicles, occurred just before 11:30 a.m. north of Shoup Road, said Capt. Steve Wilch, a spokesman for the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
The passengers of one vehicle involved, two people in their 40s and one person in their 60s, were ejected during the crash and rushed to area hospitals in critical condition, Wilch said.
The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to an area hospital for precautionary evaluation, Wilch said.
A stretch of Highway 83 was temporarily closed after the collision. The fire department, along with local police and Colorado State Patrol, responded to the incident.
Another crash closed southbound I-25 approximately five miles south of Colorado City for about 15 minutes, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
In addition, Cascade Avenue and Tejon Street in downtown Colorado Springs is closed until 6 p.m. from Colorado Avenue to Vermijo Street for the annual “What if” Festival.
