CONWAY, SC : One dead, one taken into custody following early-morning crash in Conway on Tuesday, 8th November 2016
One person was killed and another person taken into custody following a one-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in the Conway area.According to information from Lance Cpl. Matt Southern with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 1:48 a.m., on Cultra Road.
The driver of a 2015 Chevy four-door crossed the center line and overcorrected before going off the side of the road and hitting a ditch, Southern said.
Driver Jacqueline Medlin, 49, of Conway, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. She was taken to a local hospital and later released.
A passenger was not wearing a seat belt and later died from their injuries at Grand Strand Medical Center, according to Southern.
Medlin was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a charge of felony driving under the influence, Southern said.
According to online records, Medlin remained in jail Tuesday night under a $5,000 bond.
