ERIE, PA : Coroner identifies 3 men killed in SUV that hit truck on Sunday, July 9, 2017
A coroner has identified three men killed when their speeding SUV ran a red light and slammed into a tractor-trailer in Pennsylvania.
Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook says 65-year-old Oscar Johnson and Charles Barnes were killed, along with their 72-year-old friend, Willie Byrd. All three lived in a church-run senior citizens high-rise in Erie, where the crash occurred at a busy intersection Friday afternoon.
Witnesses told police that the SUV was speeding and weaving in traffic when it went through a red light and ran into the semi’s trailer. The truck driver wasn’t hurt.
Cook said one man’s partial remains were found in the SUV. The other two men were ejected, and their remains were found in debris spread over a half block.
Police still aren’t sure who was driving.
